NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — In an orderly manner, young ones at the Kirkpatrick Local community Heart are learning the basic principles of food prepping.

Classes protect all the things from hygiene to secure knife managing practices.

“We want to equip youngsters with diverse variations of healthful greens and fruits and which is what we want to introduce to this method,” Tiffanie Fletcher, software coordinator for the centre, mentioned.

About 200 college students in under-served communities will be able to get pleasure from the free of charge lessons. Fletcher reported the funding comes from the federally sponsored Baby and Adult Treatment Food Program.

“It is a funded system and they reimburse us for all meals that we do for our kids, but one of the parts in the software procedure is that we require to be educating and encouraging small children make these much healthier options,” she stated.

For two years community centers throughout the city have available totally free foods to young children in after-school applications. Now at 9 neighborhood facilities, food prep lessons will be supplied also.
